HOW CAN I HELP?

Which of these best describes your situation?

I am an adult (age does not matter!) and I want to learn the piano and acquire a technique that will allow me to attain the grades of the Associated Board and eventually Diploma standard when I so wish. (It is not a requirement that you have to take examinations, of course!)

I am happy to teach you to whatever standard you wish. With me you don’t need to laboriously work through each Grade you can miss some of the lower grades out. Lessons (including those at the very start) always include pieces, studies, exercises, sight reading and aural tests so you grow as a whole musician!

I wish my child to learn the piano from an expert pianist but above all someone who is an excellent motivator of children and a proven teacher.

 (Pupils taught from age 5). I would expect a child in favourable circumstances (especially those learning for the first time with me) to attain Grade 5 within 3 years. Parents are welcome to sit in on lessons with children if they wish.

I have attained Grade 5 or 6 but feel I am struggling to play the higher Grades and/or my current Teacher does not wish me to get involved in the higher exams.

 Being held back by a Teacher who has not experienced preparing pupils for Grade 8 and above etc is a common problem. You are also wasting your time and money. Be bold make the move! Your technique may well be holding you back because you have not the learned the correct way to deal with fast and complex pieces. I can relearn you the technique to play the piano to the highest levels and diplomas LRAM, ARCM, LTCL,LNCM, ABCM.

I am a professional/semi professional pianist but there is a specific weakness in my technique that needs expert analysis and a course of correction. I need assessment by an expert who can restore my confidence and turn me around.

I can spot weaknesses of technique and approaches and give you a short course of lessons to get you back on track. Even professionally qualified pianists can develop bad habits and become musically unfit!

I need help with one or more of the following keyboard skills:

Transposition

Score Reading

Keyboard Harmony

Sight Reading

I can teach you the best way of understanding these important areas and the most effective ways of developing a real skill in any of them. For more advanced students we combine transposition with each of the other three skills when appropriate. All students learn to be good sight readers, however even at the lower grades we learn very simple transposition and score reading.

 I am completely held back by my embarrassment/ inability to be able to cope with even simple Aural Tests pitching/singing back phrases. I have postponed this and now I am going to confront this! I need a sympathetic teacher to coax and encourage me.
